Arsenal wing-back Charles Sagoe Jr has secured a loan move to Swedish side Kalmar FF, with the agreement set to run until January 2027.
The 21-year-old Ghanaian, who was born in England, progressed through Arsenal’s academy after joining from Fulham in 2015, is eager to make an impact in the Allsvenskan and gain valuable first-team experience.
Sagoe Jr signed his first professional contract with Arsenal in July 2022 and made his senior debut the following year, featuring against Brentford in the Carabao Cup.
Since then, he has gained experience through loan spells in England, spending time with Swansea City in the Championship and Shrewsbury Town in League One during the 2025–26 season. These stints allowed him to develop his tactical awareness and versatility on the flanks, preparing him for the challenges ahead in Sweden.
Reflecting on his move, Sagoe Jr expressed excitement about his new chapter. “It feels great to be here, and I am really excited to get started, start training, and get to know my new teammates,” he said.
“I am looking forward to showing my qualities on the pitch and helping to win matches. This is a good step for me and my continued career.”
The young wing-back also highlighted the appeal of Kalmar’s environment in shaping his decision.
“After the conversations with the sports director and the management staff, I got a strong feeling that this was the right environment for me. Now I want to take advantage of the opportunity and help the team achieve good results,” Sagoe Jr added.
