‘I never thought about leaving’ – French-Congolese Christopher Nkunku insists he’s committed to AC Milan

Christopher Nkunku has dismissed claims he wanted to leave AC Milan, insisting he remains focused on making an impact at the San Siro. The France international of Congolese descent, who joined the Rossoneri permanently from Chelsea last summer, had been linked with a January transfer to Turkey.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nkunku was clear: “I never thought about leaving, that’s the point. My agent never told me about any offers, so for me they were just rumours. I didn’t ask him to look elsewhere because I just wanted to be ready to perform here at Milan.”

The striker acknowledged the slow start to his Milan career, taking four months to open his scoring account. He explained his mindset during that period: “I tried to stay calm because I know my quality and I knew the goals would come. It was just a matter of time and fitness.”

Nkunku emphasized the broader contributions he has made beyond scoring. “If you play up front, you have to score because that’s your job. I still think I helped the team in other ways, but if you provide an assist or a goal, it’s more evident,” he said.

The comments come amid speculation linking several European forwards with moves away from their clubs, but Nkunku’s stance suggests Milan can rely on him for the rest of the season. His focus now appears firmly on delivering results on the pitch rather than entertaining offers off it.

With Milan looking to maintain their push in Serie A, Nkunku’s affirmation of commitment provides reassurance to fans and teammates alike.
