Mourinho support puts Liverpool’s Mac Allister on Real Madrid’s radar

Real Madrid are monitoring Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister ahead of the summer transfer window, with manager Jose Mourinho reportedly among the leading supporters of a move for the Argentina international.

Liverpool are understood to be assessing possible alternatives in midfield as interest in the 27-year-old develops. Mac Allister is contracted at Anfield until 2028, having joined the Reds from Brighton in 2023.

Reports from Sky Germany say Mourinho is particularly impressed by Mac Allister’s physical strength and his ability to compete in challenges. ESPN, citing the German outlet, also reports that Liverpool currently have no specific plan to extend the midfielder’s contract.

Real Madrid are said to be following Mac Allister’s situation closely. However, Liverpool are expected to reject any approach for a player considered an important part of their team.

Liverpool consider midfield options

Sky Germany reports that Liverpool hold Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha in “high regard”. The 26-year-old is not currently regarded as a primary target, but that assessment could change as Liverpool look to strengthen their midfield options.

Nmecha joined Borussia Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023 and remains under contract with the German club until June 2030.

Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott are also on Liverpool’s shortlist. Both players have been linked with clubs including Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months.

Liverpool’s interest in midfield alternatives comes as Mac Allister’s position is being watched by Real Madrid. Despite that attention, the Reds are expected to stand firm over the Argentina international, whose current deal has two years remaining beyond the end of the upcoming season.
