Former RC Lens and OGC Nice manager Franck Haise is expected to replace Franco-Senegalese tactician, Habib Beye at Stade Rennes.
Following defeat to RC Lens at the weekend, the Roazhon Park outfit has resolved to terminate the appointment of Beye following a meeting between both parties on Monday morning.
Beye was appointed Rennes head coach a year ago, taking over from Jorge Sampaoli, whose tenure only lasted weeks in Brittany.
The 48-year manager struggled to grind results, losing four games on the bounce. The poor run of results has prompted the club’s leadership to part ways with Beye. Rennes’ 3-1 defeat against RC Lens at the weekend proved to be the final straw for the trainer.
Before this defeat, Rennes had succumbed to a 4-0 defeat to struggling Monaco before being dumped out of the Coupe de France by Olympique de Marseille in midweek (3-0).
“Stade Rennais F.C. have initiated a procedure against its head coach, M. Habib Beye, and his assistants, M. Olivier Saragaglia, M. Sébastien Bichard and M. Yann Cavezza.
Pending an upcoming decision, the first team’s training sessions will be overseen by Sébastien Tambouret, Pierre-Alexandre Lelièvre and Maxime Le Marchand until further notice” a statement from the club reads.
The Franco-Senegalese gaffer leaves the French Ligue 1 outfit alongside his assistants despite having a contract until June 2026.
Rennes are expected to reunite with former Lens head coach in Haise. The 54-year-old was a free agent following his exit from OGC Nice in December.
Haise would return to Stade Rennais, where he worked as a youth coach. He could even be in the Roazhon Park dugout for Friday’s home Ligue 1 game against league leaders PSG.
