Ashraf Nassar, president of Al Ahly Bank Club, has confirmed that star forward Mostafa Shalaby will remain with the team for the foreseeable future, while the future of striker Osama Faisal will be reviewed next summer.
Speaking to MBC Egypt, Nassar highlighted the club’s preparations ahead of the current season: “We worked hard before the start of the season to strengthen the squad, ensuring we have both starters and substitutes in every position.”
Reflecting on recent performances, he added: “We aim to secure a spot among the top teams in the Egyptian League this season. I am certainly pleased with the 1-1 draw against Al Ahly. Ambition is part of football, but a point against a club of Al Ahly’s stature is very satisfactory and will help us achieve our goals.”
On the topic of his key players, Nassar confirmed: “Mostafa Shalaby is staying with us. As for Osama Faisal, he will remain until the end of this season. Next summer, we will discuss his future if suitable offers emerge, and we will handle it without any problems.”
He also addressed transfer speculation surrounding Faisal: “Neither Al Ahly nor Pyramids made official approaches for him. There were external discussions, but nothing amounted to formal offers. Osama Faisal is a young international striker with immense potential, and he certainly deserves the attention he’s receiving. God willing, he will achieve his ambitions.”
When asked about a potential transfer fee, Nassar emphasized principle over finances: “If the principle is that the player should not be sold, then financial matters are not up for discussion.”
Concluding with a lighter note, he remarked on a previous sale: “Amr El-Gazzar was sold to Al Ahly for 60 million pounds? I don’t recall the exact figure (laughs) and cannot comment to avoid sharing inaccurate information.”
