Belgium outfit Zulte Waregem have secured the signing of Senegal international Malick Mbaye in the recently concluded winter transfer window.
The 21-year-old winger joins the Belgian Jupiler Pro League outfit on a three-and-a-half-year deal with an option for an additional year, marking a significant step in his career.
“Malick Mbaye (21) is the latest recruit to Elindus Arena. The winger arrives from Ligue 1 club FC Metz and has signed a 3.5-year contract (+ one-year option) with Essevee.’ Wrote the club.
However, the 21-year-old Senegalese international has expressed his excitement joining the Belgian club, while promising to make impact.
“I didn’t hesitate for long when Essevee called. The Belgian league is highly respected and Zulte Waregem has a clear development plan. The club is no stranger to Senegal, as players like Diop and Leye have already made a name for themselves here,” said Malick Mbaye.
Before switching to FC Metz, the Senegal international made five appearances in the French Ligue 1, without scoring or registering an assists.
At the international level, Mbaye has made six appearances for the Senegal national team, scoring just once since making his debut in 2023.
