Onyeka Osemene: Nigerian centre-forward linked with move to RW Koblenz in Germany

Onyeka Osemene has completed a move from SV Wilhelmshaven to FC Rot-Weiß Koblenz, joining the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar side on a free transfer. The 30-year-old Nigeria centre-forward arrives as a permanent signing, with his contract at Koblenz running from 2026-02-02 to 2026-06-30. No transfer fee was paid to Wilhelmshaven, and no current market value has been recorded for the player.

The switch keeps Osemene in Germany but places him in a new regional competition, with RW Koblenz competing in the OL RP/Saar rather than the Oberliga Niedersachsen, where Wilhelmshaven play. The move also continues a long-running trend in the striker’s career: operating abroad, away from his home country Nigeria, across several European lower divisions.

Osemene joins Koblenz as an experienced centre-forward whose main position is through the middle in attack and who favours his right foot. Standing at 1.88m, he offers a physical focal point up front. Although his most recent market valuation is not listed, past valuations during his time in Portugal once reached six-figure euro sums, underlining that he has previously been regarded as a significant asset at second and third-tier level.

Born in Lagos in 1995, Osemene has spent the bulk of his senior career in Europe. Before arriving in Germany, he built an extensive résumé in Portugal with a sequence of clubs, including SC Braga B, CD Trofense, Ribeirão 1968 FC, SC Salgueiros, SC Covilhã, UD Leiria, CF Canelas 2010, Varzim SC and USC Paredes. Those spells took him through the Portuguese system, from youth level at Leixões SC U19 into professional ranks, featuring in different national competitions and loan arrangements.

His move to TSV Albeck in 2024 marked his first recorded club in Germany, before he stepped up to SV Wilhelmshaven in 2025. From there, the most recent transfer to RW Koblenz has been confirmed as a free transfer. With his Wilhelmshaven deal now concluded and his new contract at Koblenz already active, there is currently no suggestion of an immediate free-agent spell; instead, the Nigerian forward goes straight into the plans of his new Oberliga side.

Over the years, Osemene’s market value has fluctuated considerably. Data shows that while at SC Braga B his value stood at €25,000, rising later to €150,000 during a peak phase at KF Teuta and then stabilising around €75,000 in subsequent periods at SC Covilhã. A later assessment at UD Leiria registered a value of €125,000 before dropping to zero in a subsequent listing, after which no updated figure is given. At present, his market value is officially recorded as None, reflecting the lack of a current estimate rather than a defined transfer valuation.

The forward’s extensive movement across clubs and leagues underscores a career built on adaptability. He has played in Albania’s top flight with KF Teuta, in Portugal’s professional tiers with multiple sides, and now in the German regional pyramid. For RW Koblenz, securing an experienced, well-travelled centre-forward without a transfer fee represents a low-risk addition that could add presence and depth to their attack.

As Osemene begins this latest chapter in Koblenz, his future trajectory will depend on how quickly he adapts to his new team and the demands of the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar. At 30, he is entering the later prime years of his career; a successful spell here could stabilise his reputation as a reliable, physical striker in Europe’s competitive lower leagues and potentially open further opportunities within the German system.
