Abdoulaye Traoré has completed a permanent move from Belgian side Zulte Waregem to Qatari club Al-Shahania SC, sealing a transfer that takes the Ivorian left winger to the Stars League. The deal was finalised with the contract running from 2026-02-02 to 2028-06-30, confirming his status as an Al-Shahania player for the medium term and removing any immediate prospect of him becoming a free agent.

The move ends Traoré’s spell in Belgium and marks the latest step in a fast-evolving career for the 22‑year‑old, whose current market value is listed at €400k. While the official transfer fee has not been disclosed and is recorded as “?”, the switch represents a notable investment by Al-Shahania in a young attacking player with experience in multiple European leagues.

Traoré arrives in Qatar as a specialist left winger who prefers to play on the left of the attack while being naturally right-footed, a profile that typically suits inverted-winger systems. At Al-Shahania, he is expected to add pace and direct dribbling on the flank, attributes the club will hope can translate into goals and assists in the Stars League. His registration with Al-Shahania is already active from 2026-02-02, tying him down until 2028-06-30, which gives the Qatari side security over one of their key attacking assets for at least two full seasons.

Born on 28 June 2003 and standing 1.76m tall, Traoré has already built a varied club résumé despite his age. Before joining Zulte Waregem, he played for Bulgarian outfit Botev Plovdiv, having signed there from Russian side FDC Vista Gelendzhik. That route – Russia to Bulgaria to Belgium and now Qatar – has exposed him to different tactical demands and competitive environments, building a diverse foundation for his development.

His market value trajectory reflects both his rise and recent fluctuations. From €50k at Botev Plovdiv in late 2022, his value climbed sharply, peaking at €800k with Zulte Waregem in late 2023. It then declined to €700k, fell further to €550k in mid‑2024, and has since settled at €400k as of December 2025. That pattern suggests a player whose early promise attracted attention quickly, followed by a more measured reassessment of his standing in the market.

During his time in Belgium, Traoré featured in the Jupiler Pro League with Zulte Waregem, gaining experience in one of Europe’s recognised development leagues. Earlier stints in Bulgaria and Russia added exposure to different styles of play: more physical, transitional football in Eastern Europe and a more tactically structured environment in Belgium. Those experiences are part of what Al-Shahania are buying – a winger still young enough to grow, yet already seasoned across three countries.

For Traoré as an Ivorian international‑level prospect, the move also reinforces his status as a footballing export, continuing his career abroad rather than returning to compete in his home country. Playing in Qatar positions him in a league that has increasingly attracted foreign talent and investment, and it offers him regular top-flight minutes in a growing competition.

As he begins this new chapter in the Stars League with Al-Shahania SC, Traoré’s immediate task will be to convert his varied European education into consistent end product in Qatar. If he settles quickly and performs to the level once suggested by his peak €800k valuation, this contract through 2028-06-30 could become the platform that stabilises his career and re-energises his reputation on the international stage.
