RB Leipzig have completed the signing of 18-year-old left winger Ayodele Thomas from PSV Eindhoven U21 on a permanent deal, with his contract at the Bundesliga club running from 2026-02-02 to 2030-06-30. The move takes the Dutch-Nigerian teenager out of the Netherlands for the first time in his career and installs him immediately into Leipzig’s attacking ranks.

Thomas joins from PSV’s second team for a reported €400k fee, moving to Germany with an estimated market value of €650k. The transfer ends his spell in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie and places him in one of Europe’s top leagues, where he will wear the number 21 shirt for Leipzig and operate primarily as an attacking left winger.

Born in Almere and standing at 1.77m, Thomas has represented youth sides in the Netherlands throughout his development and holds both Netherlands and Nigeria nationality. At Leipzig he is listed in the first-team squad as a right-footed attacker who prefers to start on the left, giving the Bundesliga club another option in wide offensive areas.

The transfer continues a rapid rise through the youth structures of Dutch football. Thomas moved from Almere City FC Youth to Feyenoord’s youth setup, then progressed to Feyenoord U17. From there he switched to PSV Eindhoven U17, was promoted to PSV U18, and then to PSV Eindhoven U21, where he broke into professional football in the Dutch second tier before completing his move to Germany.

His market value has climbed sharply over the past two seasons, from €200k at PSV Eindhoven U21 to €250k, then €500k, and finally €650k shortly before Leipzig secured his signature. That upward trajectory underlines why a Bundesliga club was prepared to invest a six-figure fee in a player who only recently turned 18.

Up to the point of this transfer, Thomas had been competing in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie with PSV Eindhoven U21, gaining experience in senior football against established professionals in the Netherlands. His earlier youth spells at Feyenoord and PSV exposed him to two of the country’s most prominent academies, both known for developing attacking players.

Leipzig’s acquisition of Thomas also shapes his contractual future: with a long-term agreement in place until 2030-06-30, there is no immediate prospect of him becoming a free agent. Instead, the Bundesliga side have secured control over his peak development years, while the player steps into a higher-profile environment that could accelerate his progression and increase his value further.

For Thomas, the confirmed switch from PSV U21 to Leipzig marks a decisive step in his career: leaving Dutch youth and second-tier football behind to test himself in Germany’s top flight, with the potential to develop into a key attacking asset if he adapts successfully to the demands of the Bundesliga.
