Nineteen-year-old Guinean forward Sidiki Chérif has joined Turkish club Fenerbahçe on loan from Angers SCO, bringing an end to his long association with the French side.
Angers confirmed the transfer on Monday, announcing that the striker will spend the remainder of the season in Türkiye.
The agreement includes an obligation to buy, which is set to take effect next summer.
Chérif’s move marks a significant step in his young career, as he departs the club where he developed from a teenager into a professional footballer.
The forward joined Angers’ youth system more than six years ago and progressed through the ranks in the club’s black and white colours before earning his move abroad.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Angers paid tribute to the striker’s time at the club, writing: “Thank you Sidi’ for these years. We wish you all the best for the rest of your career ,”.
The message reflected the club’s appreciation for a player who spent a large part of his formative years within their academy structure.
The loan arrangement offers Chérif the opportunity to gain experience in a new environment while continuing his development at senior level.
For Fenerbahçe, the deal secures a young attacking prospect with the possibility of a permanent transfer already agreed in principle.
The obligation to buy included in the agreement means the Turkish club will complete the signing at the end of the season, provided the terms are met.
This structure allows both clubs clarity over the player’s future while giving Chérif time to adapt to his new surroundings.
For Angers, the departure of a home-grown player highlights their continued role in developing young talent, even as those players move on to new challenges abroad.
Chérif’s exit closes a chapter that began in the youth ranks and now opens another in the Turkish top flight.
As the season progresses, attention will turn to how the Guinean striker settles in Istanbul, with his move representing both a personal milestone and a carefully planned transition between clubs.
