Atletico Madrid have stepped up their search for a new striker this winter and turned their attention to Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, currently struggling for minutes at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.
The striker has found it hard to secure a regular starting role under Pep Guardiola despite his high‑profile move last year, opening the door to a potential exit.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Atletico are exploring a loan deal for Marmoush that would include a purchase option set at around 55 million euros, plus up to 15 million euros in bonuses, bringing the total close to the fee City originally paid, estimated at 75 million euros.
For Marmoush, a switch to Madrid could offer the consistent game time he needs to rediscover his sharpness and continue his development as a key attacking presence.
From Atletico’s perspective, Marmoush fits their need for a mobile, clinical attacker who can finish chances and stretch defences, especially with Julián Álvarez delivering an inconsistent season.
Reports indicate that talks between Atletico and Manchester City are already underway, with both clubs open to finding a formula that satisfies financial demands and the player’s ambitions, and negotiations expected to advance over the coming days.
