Head coach of Egypt, Hossam Hassan is considering adding five new players to the Pharaohs’ ranks for the camp scheduled for March, as part of the preparations for pre-World Cup friendlies.
The global showpiece, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded 48-team format, with Egypt securing one of Africa’s nine automatic slots.
Egypt were handed a tricky group following the draw in Washington DC last December. The North African football powerhouse will compete in Group G against Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
The North African football heavyweights is scheduled to enter a closed training camp in March 2026, during which they will play two high-caliber friendly matches against the Saudi Arabia and Spain.
The two matches has been scheduled to take place in Qatar, as part of the strong preparation plan set by the technical staff before the World Cup tournament.
Per sources, the Egypt technical team is closely monitoring the performance of five new players, in an attempt to include them in the national team for March international break, as coach Hossam Hassan seeks to broaden the selection base and inject new blood into the team.
Among the top candidates is Haitham Hassan, the winger for Spanish club Real Oviedo, with whom the Egyptian Football Association is conducting intensive talks in order to officially join the March camp.
Besides, Marwan Osman, who recently joined Al-Ahly striker from Ceramica Cleopatra, following an outstanding performance remains on the Pharaohs lists.
Other players include, Mohamed Abdel Moneim of Nice, Ahmed Nabil Kouka, and Mahmoud Zalaka have all caught the attention of the Egypt coach.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, with 48 teams participating for the first time in the tournament’s history, and will be hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States of America.
