Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal have made a €26 million bid to sign Rennes striker Kader Meïté, but the Ligue 1 club has rejected the offer.
The 18-year-old forward, who has impressed since making his Ligue 1 debut in November 2024 shortly after his 17th birthday, is seen as one of the brightest prospects in French football.
According to reports from Ouest France and L’Équipe, Al-Hilal’s bid included a €23 million base fee with €3 million in potential bonuses, but Rennes immediately turned it down.
Meïté has already contributed significantly to Rennes this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. His performances last season, including two league goals in April 2025, helped establish him as a rising talent in the French top flight.
The young striker’s potential has caught the attention not only of Al-Hilal but also several clubs in England, who are monitoring the situation closely.
Al-Hilal are expected to return with a revised approach to try to secure the teenager’s services, keen to add a dynamic attacking option to a squad featuring high-profile stars such as Bono and Kalidou Koulibaly.
For Meïté, the move could provide exposure to a different footballing environment and the chance to play alongside experienced international players.
Rennes, however, appear determined to retain the striker, who represents both a sporting asset and a potential future financial windfall.
The French club has been known for developing young talent and selling players at peak value, and Meïté’s performances have only increased his profile in the transfer market.
The coming weeks are expected to see renewed negotiations, with European clubs also eyeing the young forward, making him one of the most sought-after teenagers in European football.
