English club Leicester City have reportedly set a price tag of €15 million on Italy-born defender of Nigerian descent, Caleb Okoli, amid interest from Serie A heavyweights AC Milan.
Milan’s need for defensive reinforcements is becoming increasingly urgent, with the club keen to bolster Massimiliano Allegri’s back line to avoid any late-season shortcomings. The search for a reliable central defender has therefore intensified in recent weeks.
Tuttomercatoweb reports that Okoli has emerged as one of the profiles being closely monitored. The Premier League side, however, are standing firm on their valuation and are said to be open only to negotiations that reflect a fee in the region of €15 million.
Leicester signed the 2001-born centre-back from Atalanta last year for a deal worth around €14 million, including bonuses. While the Foxes may consider flexible structures such as a loan arrangement or a move with an option to buy, discussions could stretch to a mandatory purchase under certain conditions.
Sporting director Igli Tare is understood to be an admirer of Okoli and may push forward if Milan’s pursuit of Radu Dragusin fails to materialise.
