Zamalek Club has been ranked second in Africa in a recent statistic tracking the number of registration suspensions imposed on football clubs by FIFA across the continent.
The report revealed that Congolese side Motema Pembe leads the list with 11 registration suspensions, while Zamalek follows closely with 10.
The ranking highlights the administrative and financial difficulties several clubs have faced in recent times.
The full list of clubs with the most registration suspensions is as follows:
-
Motema Pembe (Congo): 11 suspensions
-
Zamalek: 10 suspensions
-
Al-Baranis (Libya): 9 suspensions
-
Shabab Al-Jabal (Libya): 7 suspensions
-
Al-Khaleej (Libya): 6 suspensions
-
Al-Khaleej Sirte (Libya): 5 suspensions
-
Eastern Company: 4 suspensions
-
Ismaily: 4 suspensions
-
Najoum Agadir (Libya): 4 suspensions
In addition, FIFA has announced a fresh penalty against Zamalek, suspending the club from registering new players.
This latest decision adds to a growing list of sanctions imposed on the Egyptian side.
The suspension stems from unpaid fees owed to Ukrainian club Oleksandriya in connection with the transfer of Brazilian forward Juan Bezerra.
Zamalek is said to owe around $800,000, split into two instalments.
With this new ruling, Zamalek now faces a total of 10 cases and penalties, including four cases still pending payment and six cases resulting in registration suspensions over three consecutive transfer windows, according to FIFA’s official website.
