Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi is seeking to quickly regain his mental balance after Morocco’s painful 1-0 defeat to Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations final.
The Paris Saint-Germain full-back has since returned to his club and could feature in Friday night’s Ligue 1 clash against Auxerre.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, PSG head coach Luis Enrique addressed Hakimi’s current situation, stressing the importance of understanding the player’s state of mind before making a decision on his involvement.
“It depends on the training session we have. I would like to talk to him because it is important to know his personal feelings and what he is thinking. He has returned in his normal condition; he is suffering from some minor physical problems, but nothing serious. My decision regarding his participation tomorrow will be determined after speaking with him.”
On the eve of the league match against Auxerre, Enrique clarified his comments by placing them within the broader context of football’s unpredictability.
“That’s the life of coaches and players; a wonderful life, but one full of constant ups and downs. Judging each game individually is crazy.”
