Gouna and Wadi Degla booked the final two spots in the quarterfinals of the Egypt Capital Cup, joining Petrojet from Group C.
Gouna sealed their progress with a 2–0 away win over Modern Sport at Al Salam Stadium on Saturday evening in the last round of group matches.
Marwan Mohsen opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 23rd minute before Bialal El Sayed doubled the lead in the 80th minute to confirm victory. The result lifted Gouna, coached by Ahmed Mostafa “Bibo”, to 13 points, two behind group winners Petrojet, with both teams advancing to the last eight.
Wadi Degla went through as one of the best third‑placed sides after a 2–1 win over Ismaily in the same round. Anwar Abdel Salam had put Ismaily ahead on 34 minutes, but Tunisian defender Saif Tka equalised in the 53rd minute before Youssef Ouya completed the turnaround in the 85th minute.
Degla, led by coach Mohamed El Sheikh, finished on 10 points. The quarterfinal lineup is now set: Talaea El Gaish, Arab Contractors, ENPPI, Petrojet, Gouna, Wadi Degla, Al Masry, and Zed.
