Al Ahly keep hope in Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta despite disappointing draw
Al-Ahly have reportedly decided to retain Moroccan coach Hussein Ammouta despite their disappointing draw against Al-Qanah in the Egyptian Premier League.
The Cairo-based side were held at Cairo International Stadium at the conclusion of the seventh round, prompting the club to take action over the team’s recent performances.
According to Egyptian website Al-Watan Sport, Al-Ahly’s football management has renewed its confidence in Ammouta and given him an opportunity to improve results and correct the team’s mistakes.
Al-Ahly suspend players’ bonuses
As part of their response to the team’s struggles, Al-Ahly have decided to suspend the payment of players’ dues and bonuses for the time being.
The decision is reportedly intended to put pressure on the squad to improve its performances and results in the coming period, with the restoration of payments linked to satisfying the club’s supporters.
Ammouta and Wael Gomaa dispute under scrutiny
The club’s management was also reportedly angered by a dispute between Ammouta and football director Wael Gomaa during the match against Al-Qanah.
According to the report, the incident prompted officials to arrange an emergency meeting to examine the circumstances surrounding the disagreement.
The meeting is also expected to address the team’s poor technical and physical performances, with the club seeking to maintain stability within the dressing room.
Ibrahim Abdel Gawad also confirmed the development, according to the report.
Despite the concerns surrounding the team’s performances and the reported disagreement within the technical leadership, Al-Ahly have opted to give Ammouta more time to turn the situation around.
