Senegal international Sadio Mane is bowing out of continental tournament as he gears up for his final Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
Mane, who plies his trade for Al Nassr emerged as the hero as the Taranga Lions triumphed over the Egypt in the semi-final of the continental showpiece on Wednesday evening.
After a pulsating goalless first half draw, the former Liverpool star stepped up, scoring the decisive goal to propel his outfit to the final of the tournament.
Speaking to RTS, Mane, who secured the Man-of-the-Match award announced he will play his last Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday, signaling an end to continental tournament participation.
“I will be happy to play my last final in the Africa Cup of Nations.” He said after the crucial match.
In high-stake clash on Sunday, Senegal will lock horns with hosts, Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Stadium.
While bowing out of the AFCON, the former Bayern Munich star could end his career with the Taranga Lions after the 2026 World Cup tournament, to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Mane won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations with the Senegalese national team for the first time in the history of the Lions of Taranga.
Senegal have now qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations final for the fourth time in its history, after qualifying for the 2002 final before losing to Cameroon on penalties, and the 2019 final before losing to Algeria 1-0 , while the only title came in 2021 with a victory over Egypt on penalties.
