Egypt are set to face long-time rivals Nigeria in the third-place playoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as both sides look to end their tournament on a positive note in the 35th edition of the continental competition.
The Pharaohs head into the bronze medal encounter following a narrow semi-final defeat to Senegal.
Sadio Mané proved decisive in that contest, scoring a powerful strike in the 78th minute that beat goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy and sealed Senegal’s place in the final.
After missing out on a spot in the showpiece match, Egypt will now turn their attention to the playoff fixture, where third and fourth place will be decided against Nigeria. The encounter presents an opportunity for the North Africans to salvage silverware after four weeks of intense competition.
The match is scheduled to take place at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, a venue with a seating capacity of over 45,000 spectators and one of Morocco’s most iconic football grounds.
Egypt will be aiming to secure victory and claim the bronze medal as a fitting conclusion to their AFCON 2025 campaign when they take on the Super Eagles.
The Egypt vs Nigeria third-place match will be played on Saturday, January 17, 2026. Kick-off is set for 6:00 PM Egypt time, 7:00 PM Saudi Arabia time, and 5:00 PM Morocco time.
