Charlotte linked with former Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure

Abdoulaye Doucoure, the 33-year-old French-Malian attacking midfielder currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Charlotte in Major League Soccer.

The MLS club is the latest side associated with Doucoure after he became unattached on 1 July 2026, following his departure from Saudi Pro League side NEOM SC.

Doucoure joined NEOM from Everton on 15 August 2025 in a free transfer, ending a five-year spell with the Premier League club. He made 278 Premier League appearances during his career, scoring 36 goals and providing 25 assists.

He had previously spent four seasons at Watford, joining the club from Rennes in February 2016 after a loan spell with Granada. His career has also included appearances in Ligue 1, La Liga and the Saudi Pro League.

Doucoure’s current listed market value is €4m, although there is no indication of a transfer fee involved while he remains without a club. The reported destination is Charlotte, who compete in MLS.

The rumour is dated 10 October 2026 and does not include a probability or details of negotiations. Doucoure’s contractual status remains unchanged, with the former Everton and NEOM midfielder currently available as an unattached player.
