French Ligue 1 outfit Le Havre have confirmed the acquisition of Morocco international midfielder Sofiane Boufal in the current transfer window.
The 32-year-old joins Le Havre until the end of the current football campaign, marking his return to France after stint with Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.
Le Havre beat off competition from Moroccan giants Wydad AC to secure the signing of thee enterprising midfielder, who was excluded from the Morocco squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
“We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new player, who will wear the number 17 shirt.” A statement from the club reads.
Boufal made his name at Angers at the start of his professional career and played for Lille before departing for spells in several countries including England and Spain.
He had spells with Southampton and Celta Vigo before securing a move to Qatar, joining Al-Rayyan.
Boufal has 46 international caps for Morocco, including appearances at the 2022 World Cup, where the Atlas Lions achieved an unprecedented feat by reaching the semi-finals.
Boufal is expected to make his debut for Le Havre in their upcoming match against Rennes in the Ligue 1.
Boufal possesses experience that will be particularly valuable to the Sky Blues, notably 99 Ligue 1 matches and 11 European cup appearances.
At 32, Sofiane Boufal is determined to take on the challenge at Le Havre and to thrill the Stade Océane.
