Nikolas Nartey delivered the decisive moment as Stuttgart completed a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, with the Danish-Ghanaian midfielder scoring a late winner to seal a pulsating contest.
Introduced late on, Nartey showed composure inside the area in the 88th minute, converting from close range to cap a remarkable turnaround and maintain Stuttgart’s momentum in a season that continues to gather pace.
Nartey, who has Ghanaian heritage despite representing Denmar, marked the occasion with his first Bundesliga goal, one that carried significant weight for Die Schwaben.
His strike not only settled the match but also underlined Stuttgart’s growing depth and resilience, as they recorded their seventh consecutive competitive win on a Tuesday and temporarily climbed to third in the league standings.
The match began at a frantic tempo, and Frankfurt struck early when Rasmus Kristensen’s looping header from a corner beat Alexander Nübel in the fifth minute.
Stuttgart responded with urgency, pushing forward through set-pieces and sustained pressure, while Frankfurt were dealt a blow when Younes Ebnoutalib was forced off injured inside the opening 20 minutes.
Stuttgart’s equaliser arrived through Ermedin Demirović after a handling error from Kauã Santos, before the hosts grew in confidence. Deniz Undav then turned the game on its head midway through the first half, his deflected effort finding the far corner to give Stuttgart a deserved lead at the break.
The second half remained open and fiercely contested, with chances flowing at both ends. Ansgar Knauff rattled the crossbar for Frankfurt, while Stuttgart went close through Undav and Chris Führich. Those missed opportunities appeared costly when debutant substitute Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyabe calmly levelled for Frankfurt late on, setting up a tense finale.
Just as the contest seemed destined for a draw, Nartey stepped forward to provide the decisive touch. His late goal ensured Stuttgart claimed a fourth win in five matches, handed Frankfurt a setback in their push for the top six, and crowned a night that highlighted both Stuttgart’s attacking intent and Nartey’s emerging influence.
