Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic has admitted Nigeria fully deserved their win in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, held in Marrakech.
The Desert Foxes were booted out of the continental showpiece on Saturday after succumbing to a 2-0 quarterfinals defeat to Nigeria in a highly competitive clash.
Goals from Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams were enough for the Super Eagles to qualify at the expense of their North African counterparts.
Speaking after match, Vladimir Petkovic stressed the Super Eagles were the side and fully deserved their win.
“Nigeria deserved to win this match. They were better than us… It was difficult to get into this match… We were hit left and right.” He said.
Nigeria will face hosts Morocco in Rabat on January 14, chasing a fourth AFCON title later this week with confidence.
The North African outfit will now turn their attention to the upcoming 2026 World Cup tournament to be staged in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
