Al Ahly cruised to a 4-1 victory away to Pharco in the Egypt Capital Cup, with Hussein El Shahat delivering a brilliant hat-trick at Borg El Arab Stadium on Saturday.
The result came in the sixth and penultimate round of Group A and underlined Al Ahly’s growing momentum under Danish coach Jess Thorup.
El Shahat opened the scoring in the 26th minute after a smart run and simple finish from a pass by Slovenian forward Nejr Gradisar. He struck again just before the break, steering in a precise cross in the 42nd minute to send Al Ahly into halftime with a comfortable lead.
Early in the second half, Gradisar made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute after a neat exchange with El Shahat, before the Egyptian winger completed his hat-trick on 61 minutes with a well‑placed shot into the corner.
Pharco’s only reply came from Mahmoud Farahat, who took advantage of a defensive mistake by Ahmed Ramadan Beckham in the 67th minute.
The win lifted Al Ahly to 6 points in fourth place in the group, behind Pharco on 9, while Tala’ea El Gaish lead with 10 points and ENPPI sit second with 9.
