Trevoh Chalobah has spoken emotionally about what the FA Cup means to him as Chelsea prepare for their third‑round tie against Charlton Athletic.
The defender looked back on being part of the Blues squad that beat Manchester United in the 2018 final, calling it an experience he will never forget.
He remembered the shock and excitement of being drafted in at the last minute when Andreas Christensen was injured the day before the game. Chalobah explained how he expected to be in the stands, only to walk into the dressing room at Wembley and see his name on the board among the substitutes.
He described his first time at Wembley as “like a dream”, recalling phoning his family, soaking in the atmosphere and feeling ready thanks to months of training with the first team. Lifting his first senior medal alongside stars such as Toni Rudiger and Eden Hazard made the moment even more special, and he admitted the FA Cup “holds a special place” in his heart.
Looking ahead to Charlton, Chalobah said Saturday’s match is another opportunity to push for a trophy under new head coach Liam Rosenior and to show the team’s style while getting back to winning ways.
