Botswana coach Morena Ramoreboli left the Al Madina Stadium disappointed by the 3–0 scoreline against DR Congo, but deeply proud of how his players fought in their final AFCON 2025 outing.
The Zebras were already out before kick-off, yet they chased every ball and continued to press a confident Congolese side led by a brilliant Gael Kakuta.
Ramoreboli admitted that the campaign had fallen short of their hopes, but he highlighted the attitude on display in Rabat as a sign that Botswana are moving in the right direction.
His team faced relentless pressure, with DR Congo attacking from the first whistle, scoring through Nathaniel Mbuku before Kakuta added a penalty and a composed second-half finish.
Even at 3–0 down, Botswana tried to push forward and refused to let the Leopards stroll to the final whistle.
For the coach, the experience in Morocco should serve as both a lesson and a source of belief that Botswana can compete at this level.
“We are leaving the competition. I really liked the attitude of my players today; they gave their all until the end, countering the Congolese attacks at the finish,” he said.
“They didn’t let themselves be pushed around and caused problems for the opponent.”
