Morocco completed their final preparations in a composed and confident atmosphere ahead of their decisive Group A encounter against Zambia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with the hosts determined to secure top spot and extend their stay in Rabat.
The Atlas Lions trained on Sunday at the Mohammed VI Football Centre in Maâmoura, near Salé, holding their last full session before Monday night’s match at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Walid Regragui worked with an almost complete squad, with only captain Romain Saïss training separately as he continues his recovery from injury.
Morocco lead Group A with four points and know that victory will guarantee first place and a smoother route into the knockout stages.
The players approached the session with focus but also visible calm, reflecting a group that trusts its preparation and depth.
Regragui also offered a boost during his pre-match briefing by confirming the availability of Achraf Hakimi, whose presence adds pace, leadership and balance to the side.
Midfielder Bilal El Khannous spoke with confidence after training, stressing the collective belief within the camp.
He underlined the quality in the squad and insisted the players have prepared specifically to claim all three points against Zambia.
El Khannous also called on Moroccan supporters to fill the stadium once again, praising their role in creating an intimidating atmosphere for visiting teams.
Ilias Akhomach echoed that message while sounding a note of caution. He reminded observers that the Africa Cup of Nations never offers easy fixtures, regardless of the opponent.
According to the winger, the team accepts the pressure that comes with hosting the tournament and understands how to channel it positively on the pitch.
Goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui reinforced the idea of gradual progress, explaining that the technical staff continues to refine details as the competition unfolds.
He highlighted the importance of taking each match on its own merits while learning from every challenge faced so far.
Group A remains finely balanced behind Morocco. Mali and Zambia sit level on two points, while Comoros trail with one.
Mali and Comoros will meet in Casablanca at the same time as Morocco face Zambia, adding further intrigue to the final round of group fixtures.
Monday’s match kicks off at 20:00 GMT in Rabat and will be broadcast live on Arryadia, Al Aoula and beIN Sports, with Morocco aiming to deliver another assured performance in front of their home crowd.
