Senegal international Idrissa Gueye has praised the high organizational standards of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, urging future host nations to emulate the North African country’s benchmarks.
Gueye, who plies his trade for Everton in the Premier League in an interview highlighted the quality of the facilities and the overall readiness of the tournament.
His comment comes after the side played out a 1-1 draw with the Leopards of DR Congo on Saturday in their second Group D clash at the tournament.
“Other countries that will host the Africa Cup of Nations should follow the example we are seeing today in Morocco.”
Gueye further commended the infrastructure and playing conditions available at the various stadiums in Morocco, emphasizing their positive impact on raising the level of play.
“We must congratulate Morocco on this organization. The facilities are excellent, and the pitches are superb. This allows us to play beautiful football and automatically raises the technical level of the tournament, which is what we expect from host countries in the future.”
In response to a question about whether the 2025 Morocco edition is the toughest in the history of the continental competition, the 35-year-old player considered it too early to make such judgments, explaining:
“So far, we have achieved one victory and earned a point against Congo. We will see what we achieve in the third match, and then history will tell us if this edition is indeed the toughest.”
Senegal will play their final group game against Benin and will be seeking for a win to progress to the next stage of the tournament.
