Sudan have been dealt a massive blow, with influential duo of Abu Aqla Abdullah and Abu Bakr Issa expected to miss their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations clash against Equatorial Guinea.
The Falcons of Jediane takes on Equatorial Guinea in their second Group E clash at the Moulay Hassan Stadium, Rabat in Morocco on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Ahead of the match, head coach Kwasi Appiah has suffered a painful blow with star midfielder Abu Aqla Abdullah and striker Abu Bakr Issa set to miss the high-stake match, as the specialist doctor advised against their participation in the match to avoid aggravating their injuries after they continued training with their teammates following the match against “Al-Khadra”.
The duo are expected to appear in the final round match against Burkina Faso. In the absence of the pair, coach Kwasi Appiah has turned to Awad Zayed and Al-Jazouli Noah as their replacement.
Meanwhile, captain Bakheet Khamis concluded their preparations and held a training session before their match against Equatorial Guinea, in which the Falcons of Jediane will defend their last hopes before their final match against the Burkina Faso national team, scheduled to be held on December 31.
As a sign of motivating the playing body, the President of the Sudanese Football Association, Mutasim Jaafar Sir Al-Khatim, held a dinner for the Falcons of Jediane as the team seeks for their first win at the tournament.
The team aspires to achieve victory and revive their hopes following their humiliating opening day defeat to Algeria.
