Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has reiterated his outfit determination to redeem their reputation at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following World Cup qualification setback.
The Super Eagles will miss the global showpiece for the second consecutive time after falling short in the playoff, held in Morocco last month.
However, the Galatasaray star issued a heartfelt apology to Nigerians over World Cup qualification failure, while assuring fans of a strong performance at the ongoing continental showpiece.
As the Super Eagles gears up for their AFCON opener on Tuesday against Tanzania, Osimhen has acknowledged pressure, but remains calm and confident.
“The expectation is really high, not just within the camp but also from the Super Eagles fans all over the world,” Osimhen said. “Even with these high expectations, there is no pressure among my teammates, myself, or the coach because we understand the quality we have in this team.”
The Nigerian striker also described the Africa Cup of Nations as a crucial opportunity for redemption after the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup.
“This AFCON is an opportunity for us to try to right our wrongs,” he added. “We want to make Super Eagles fans all over the world believe that there is still so much more we can give.”
