Bachir Belloumi shines as man of the match in Hull City’s win against Wrexham
Bachir Belloumi once again reminded everyone of his talent, earning the Man of the Match award in Hull City’s 2-0 win over Wrexham, a recognition fully deserved after a brilliant display.
Starting on the right flank, he set the tone immediately with his direct running and creativity, producing a blistering surge into the box before delivering a perfect cross for Kyle Joseph to open the scoring.
Son of Algerian legend Lakhdar Belloumi, Bachir is gradually rebuilding his career after a long spell on the sidelines caused by a serious knee injury and a relapse earlier this season. Those physical setbacks had pushed him out of the plans of both the senior and local national teams, even though he had been tipped to feature at the 2025 Arab Cup.
This time, though, Belloumi seems to have turned a corner. Hull City fans voted him overwhelmingly as player of the match, reflecting their growing affection and confidence in him, while English outlets such as Hull Live gave him a high rating of 8/10, highlighting his impact, attacking courage and constant initiative in energising the Tigers’ forward line.
Belloumi now aims to maintain this level, reclaim a permanent starting role and convince Vladimir Petkovic ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
