France-born forward of Congolese descent, Arnaud Kalimuendo, was on target for Nottingham Forest on Thursday night, helping the team to defeat FC Utrecht 2-1 in the Europa League.

His contribution proved vital as Forest continued their push in the competition with a hard-fought win.

Kalimuendo opened the scoring in the 52nd minute with a brilliant individual effort. After weaving his way into the box, he unleashed a low strike into the bottom right corner, leaving goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas with no chance.

Utrecht responded in the 73rd minute when Souffian El Karouani delivered a well-placed free kick that found Mike van der Hoorn, who rose to head the ball into the left side of the net to level the score.

With the match heading toward a draw, Nottingham Forest struck again late on.

In the 88th minute, Igor Jesus reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the box, firing a low shot inside the right post to restore Forest’s lead and seal the 2-1 victory.
