‘A tough situation’ – Robertson speaks on Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool fallout
Andy Robertson says Mohamed Salah’s recent outburst has created ‘a tough situation’ at Liverpool, but insists the dressing room remains united despite the growing uncertainty around the Egyptian forward’s future.
The Scotland defender addressed the issue after Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Salah, 33, did not travel with the squad after giving an explosive interview in which he claimed he had been “thrown under the bus,” leaving his future at Anfield under renewed scrutiny.
Liverpool secured the win through a late Dominik Szoboszlai penalty, which survived strong protests from the Inter players.
The result strengthened Liverpool’s push for a top-eight finish and eased the pressure around the club’s turbulent week.
Robertson, 31, chose his words carefully but underlined Salah’s stature at Liverpool, calling him “one of the greatest players to play for this club” and stressing that whatever disagreements exist have not damaged the team’s internal cohesion.
“Whatever has happened, happened. Internally, we’re all together,” he said.
Asked whether Salah could still be part of Liverpool’s plans moving forward, Robertson avoided speculation but repeated his admiration for the club’s talisman.
“I love playing with Mo Salah and I hope to continue playing with him,” he said.
“We know how important being in that top eight is and avoiding a play-off. We got unlucky last season with who we drew.”
