Chérif Bodian has left US Monastir and is now a free agent after his contract with the Tunisian club came to an end, with the Senegalese midfielder officially registered as “without club” following his latest move. The transfer was completed on 09 Dec 2025, with his status at his new “club” – effectively the pool of unattached players – running until the end of his contract on 30 Jun 2026.

The 26-year-old central midfielder, valued at €300,000 at the time of his departure, exits Monastir having most recently been part of the Tunisian Ligue 1 set-up. His move carries no transfer fee, with the switch recorded as a standard free transfer. It marks the latest step in a career that has taken him from his native Senegal to North Africa and now into free agency, where he will be available on the market for interested clubs.

Bodian joined US Monastir from fellow Tunisian side Etoile Sportive Metlaoui ahead of the 2025–26 season, following an earlier move from Diambars de Saly FC in Senegal to Metlaoui in January 2024. Those switches established him in Tunisia’s Ligue 1, where he has operated primarily as a central midfielder, offering a left-footed option in the middle of the pitch. Over that period his market value climbed from €275,000 at Metlaoui to €300,000, a figure that was maintained during his spell at Monastir.

Born on 06 Jan 1999 and standing 1.74m tall, Bodian has built his profile in two countries so far: Senegal’s domestic game with Diambars de Saly and Tunisia’s top flight with Metlaoui and Monastir. His registration now with the “Without Club” category means he is no longer tied to any league or association, leaving the door open to a move abroad or a return to familiar surroundings. With no league listed for his current status, his next destination could yet see him compete outside Tunisia and away from his home country.

The Senegal international’s recent market-value history underlines a period of stability and consistency rather than sharp rises or declines. His valuation of €300,000 was first reached at Metlaoui and then reaffirmed in mid-2025 and again shortly before his Monastir exit, suggesting that scouts and analysts continued to regard him as a solid asset at Ligue 1 level. While there is no transfer fee attached to his latest move, that valuation provides a benchmark for any club considering offering him a contract.

Bodian’s career path illustrates a steady progression from the Senegalese system into North African football, where Tunisian clubs have often looked to West Africa for technically capable and tactically disciplined midfielders. At Diambars de Saly he developed in a structure known for youth development, before adapting to the physical and tactical demands of Tunisian Ligue 1 with Metlaoui and later Monastir. His preferred role in central midfield and his left-footed profile add variety to midfields typically built around right-footed players.

With his Monastir spell now concluded and no club currently attached to his name, Bodian enters a crucial phase of his career. As a 26-year-old free agent with experience in two national leagues and a stable market valuation, he is positioned for a potential move that could either bring him back closer to home or take him further afield. The coming months will determine whether his next contract allows him to build on the platform established in Tunisia and convert his time as a free agent into a springboard for the next stage of his professional journey.
