Uganda land in Casablanca for final 2025 AFCON tune up
Uganda’s national team, the Cranes, have arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, to begin their final preparation camp for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Seventeen players made the trip on Monday alongside head coach Paul Put, his assistant Fred Muhumuza, and the full technical and backroom staff, setting the tone for an intense build‑up phase. The group was led by Dr Apollo Ahimbisibwe.
The remaining 13 squad members will link up directly in Morocco from their various clubs, ensuring the full group is assembled quickly for the last stretch before the tournament kicks off. Uganda will spend eleven days in camp and are scheduled to play two friendly matches, which will help Put and his staff fine‑tune tactics and decide on the final AFCON squad list.
Drawn in Group C, Uganda will face Nigeria, Tanzania and Tunisia in what is widely seen as a very competitive section. The Cranes open their campaign against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on 23 December, before taking on the Super Eagles of Nigeria and regional rivals Tanzania in back‑to‑back fixtures that could define their tournament.
