Bayern Munich are being linked with a move for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, with the transfer rated at a 30% probability according to data from Transfermarkt.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder, currently valued at €60.00m, is reported to be on the German champions’ radar as they assess longer-term options at the base of their midfield. While no fee or agreement has been reported, Baleba’s rising market value and growing reputation in the Premier League have fuelled speculation that Bayern could test Brighton’s resolve.

Baleba remains under contract at Brighton, but no public information is listed on Transfermarkt regarding the length or expiry of that deal. The absence of clear contract details has prompted some observers to note that, in theory, a future free-agent scenario cannot be entirely ruled out, though there is no suggestion in the data that such a situation is imminent.

The Cameroon international, who wears the number 17 shirt at Brighton, has developed into a combative, left-footed holding midfielder capable of screening the defence and progressing play from deep. Since arriving on the south coast from Lille in August 2023, his valuation has climbed sharply, rising from €20m shortly after his move to the current €60m mark in October 2025.

Baleba’s career path has been rapid. Born in Douala on 3 January 2004, he moved from Brasseries du Cameroun to Lille’s B team in 2022 before earning promotion to Lille’s first team and then securing his switch to the Premier League with Brighton. That journey has taken him from domestic football in Cameroon to Ligue 1 in France and now to England’s top flight.

With Bayern traditionally active in identifying emerging talents from across Europe, any concrete move for Baleba would underline their intent to refresh their midfield. If a transfer does eventually materialise, it could mark the next major step in his development and significantly shape both his career trajectory and standing within European football.
