Axel Disasi is being linked with a return to Ligue 1, with Chelsea defender reportedly on Lyon’s radar as the French club explore centre-back options.

The 27-year-old is currently listed with a market value of €18.00m and remains under contract at Chelsea, but fresh speculation collected on 6 December 2025 points to interest from Lyon, who are monitoring potential deals out of the Premier League. The rumour, sourced via Transfermarkt’s listings, does not give a clear probability of the move – marked only as “?” – underlining that talks, if any, are at an early and uncertain stage.

Disasi’s situation is complicated by his recent loan spell at Aston Villa in the 2024-25 season, from which he has since returned to Stamford Bridge. With no contract expiry date disclosed in the data, there is also the theoretical possibility that, depending on Chelsea’s stance and any short remaining term, the France and DR Congo national could edge towards free-agent territory in the near future, heightening Lyon’s interest in a cost-effective deal.

Born in Gonesse on 11 March 1998 and standing at 1.91m, Disasi has built a reputation as a powerful right-footed centre-back across France and England. Before joining Chelsea from Monaco in 2023, he developed through Paris FC’s youth and B sides, then Stade Reims and Monaco in Ligue 1, steadily climbing from a €50,000 valuation as a teenager to a peak of €42m after his early months at Stamford Bridge. More recently, that valuation has declined through spells with Chelsea and Aston Villa to its current €18m level.

A move to Lyon would mark a return to familiar surroundings in Ligue 1 and offer the chance to re-establish himself as a cornerstone defender; if the transfer materialises, it could prove a pivotal juncture in reviving both his market value and his standing in European football.
