Morocco can heave a big sigh of relief as Paris Saint Germain defender, Achraf Hakimi, returns to training few days to the commencement of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Hakimi, who recently secured the African Footballer of the Year award has been out of action for club and country after succumbing to an ankle injury in the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich early November.

The pacey Morocco full-back was previously racing against time to be fit for the continental showpiece, to be stage in the North African country between December 2025 and January 2026.

In a dramatic turn of an event, the former Real Madrid and Inter Milan star has swiftly returned to training at Paris Saint Germain, boosting his availability for the continental showpiece.

Morocco can now count on the enterprising defender in their quest to annex the AFCON tournament on home soil. Hakimi’s return come not as a refreshing news for Morocco only, but for the French giants, who will be counting on the defender for success this season.

The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan star has been an integral member of the Morocco national team, playing an instrumental role in their seminal finish in the 20222 World Cup tournament in Qatar.

Since making his debut in 2016, the 27-year-old full-back has made 88 appearances for the Atlas Lions of Morocco, scoring eleven goals across the period.
