Mohammed Kudus shines with fifth assist of the season in Tottenham’s 2-2 stalemate with Newcastle Utd
Mohammed Kudus continued his impressive start to the Premier League season on Tuesday night, registering his fifth assist of the campaign in Tottenham Hotspur’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
Both sides produced a fiercely competitive first half but struggled to make their chances count, heading into the break without a goal.
The intensity shifted in the final stages as Newcastle broke the deadlock in the 71st minute when Nick Woltemade teed up Bruno Guimarães, who guided a precise effort into the bottom right corner.
Tottenham’s response was swift. In the 78th minute, Kudus curled a teasing cross that evaded goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and fell perfectly for Cristian Romero, who headed home to level the score. Newcastle struck again in the 86th minute after Anthony Gordon calmly converted a penalty into the right corner.
Spurs, however, refused to relent and deep into stoppage time, Romero produced a spectacular overhead kick to secure a dramatic point for the visitors and cap off a pulsating encounter.
Kudus’ assist on the night places him among the league’s top creators, now tied for the highest number of assists this season with five.
