Zamalek and Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Awad has confirmed he intends to stay with the White Knights, despite uncertainty around his role and limited playing time this season.

Speaking after Egypt’s 1–1 draw with Kuwait at the 2025 Arab Cup, Awad said it is “too early” to talk in detail about his future but stressed that he remains committed to the club, with his contract running until June 2027.

Awad has not featured for Zamalek in the current Egyptian Premier League campaign, with the club relying on Mohamed Sobhi as first-choice keeper. His minutes have been restricted to appearances in the local Super Cup against Pyramids and Al Ahly, plus a Confederation Cup match against Zesco United.

Reflecting on the Kuwait match, where he stayed on the bench, Awad highlighted the team’s character in coming from behind and hoped the result would give Egypt a push for the rest of the tournament. Asked about the confusion over Egypt’s penalty takers and the visible dispute involving Amr El Solia and Mohamed Elneny, he declined to go into details, saying that issue is for the coach and team management to address, while insisting all players only want to help the national team reach its goals.
