Victor Osimhen will rejoin Galatasaray’s squad for Monday’s high-stakes Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe, according to club president Dursun Özbek, who delivered a confident update on the striker’s fitness.
Osimhen has been sidelined since sustaining an injury during Nigeria’s defeat to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the World Cup 2026 qualifying playoffs.
The setback ruled him out of Galatasaray’s last two fixtures across all competitions, a period during which the team continued to search for consistency in the Turkish Süper Lig.
His absence left a clear gap in Galatasaray’s attacking presence, but the club now expects the 26-year-old forward to return at a crucial moment in the league campaign.
Speaking to Gözlem Gazetesi, Özbek confirmed that Osimhen and several other injured players are on track to feature in the derby, a match that carries enormous significance both on and off the pitch.
“Our returning defenders will be in the squad for the derby against Fenerbahçe. Osimhen is expected to be in the squad on Monday, I think.
From our discussions so far, the plan is for him to be available, along with the other players coming back from injury. We will take to the pitch with an exceptional team,” Özbek said.
Osimhen’s return strengthens Galatasaray ahead of one of the season’s most intense fixtures.
His pace, power, and goal threat offer a major boost as the club prepares to face their historic rivals in a clash that often shapes the direction of the title race.
With both sides battling for supremacy, Osimhen’s presence brings renewed confidence to Galatasaray and adds further intrigue to a derby already charged with emotion and expectation.
