Camron Gbadebo: English centre-back linked with move to Salisbury

Camron Gbadebo has completed a permanent move from Eastbourne Borough to Salisbury on a free transfer, joining the National League South side after leaving their divisional rivals. The England- and Nigeria-eligible centre-back arrives at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium as a confirmed signing, with his contract running from 29 November 2025 until 30 June 2026.

The 23-year-old defender, who was most recently on the books at Eastbourne, switches clubs within the same division after Salisbury opted to strengthen their back line without paying a fee. With no market value listed for Gbadebo at the time of the move, Salisbury have secured a low-risk addition, while Eastbourne lose a player who had rejoined them from free agency in December 2024.

Gbadebo heads to Salisbury as a recognised centre-back, standing at 1.92m and predominantly right-footed. Born in London on 1 July 2002, he qualifies for both England and Nigeria, giving him dual-nationality status and the potential, in theory, to attract interest from two different international set-ups in the future. His registration with Salisbury keeps him in the English system and in the National League South rather than in either of his home nations’ domestic leagues.

The move continues a nomadic early career. After youth spells with Leicester City’s Under-18s and Manchester City’s Under-21s, Gbadebo had a loan stint at AFC Fylde before dropping into senior non-league football. Since leaving Manchester City’s academy, he has represented Colchester United Under-21s, Wingate & Finchley, Marske United, Workington AFC and Eastbourne Borough, with multiple short-term stays and two separate exits into free agency along the way.

Those recent years have largely been spent across the lower tiers of the English pyramid, including the National League South and regional divisions beneath it. The transfer to Salisbury therefore keeps Gbadebo in familiar competitive surroundings, but also offers him rare stability after a sequence of brief contracts and mid-season moves.

While the financial details are straightforward – a confirmed free transfer, with no disclosed market valuation attached – the sporting implications are more significant. Salisbury gain a tall, mobile defender who has experience of different environments and styles, from Premier League academies to non-league survival battles. Eastbourne, meanwhile, must reshuffle their defensive options, having previously brought him back to the club from a spell without a team.

Contracted to Salisbury until 30 June 2026, Gbadebo now has a defined window to re-establish himself and turn a confirmed move into a long-term platform. If he can settle and perform consistently at National League South level, this latest transfer could mark a turning point in a career that has already taken him through several clubs and leagues before the age of 24.
