Achraf Hakimi’s Ballon d’Or prospects divide opinion among former internationals

Achraf Hakimi is undergoing an intense recovery program of around six hours of rehabilitation every day as he races to be fit for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil with Morocco.

The right-back picked up an injury in PSG’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich and is currently continuing his treatment in Spain under close medical supervision.

Nasser Larguet, the man who persuaded Hakimi to choose Morocco back in 2016, explained that the defender is doubling his efforts in rehab so he can return in time to help the national team. Morocco coach Walid Regragui has also sounded optimistic, saying the signals from Hakimi’s recovery are “very reassuring” and describing him as a machine who will come back even stronger once fully fit.

Hakimi himself has made it clear that he misses playing and is fully focused on returning to the pitch as soon as possible.

With AFCON approaching, Moroccan fans are anxiously following each update, encouraged by the positive news around their star defender’s commitment and progress on the road back from injury.
