Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s only weakness is his age – Roberto De Zerbi
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang showed his resilience and professionalism in Marseille’s Champions League win against Newcastle.
Though now 37 years old, Aubameyang remains a key figure for his team, proving on the pitch he still has plenty to give.
After the match, coach Roberto De Zerbi praised Aubameyang’s contribution, pointing out, “He doesn’t have anything to prove to anyone. His only weakness is that he’s 37 years old. I hope he can play for ten more years because he is truly a great champion.”
De Zerbi dedicated the victory to a young fan from Foggia who had recently passed away, saying the child’s photo in a Marseille shirt brought him luck.
The coach reflected on the match’s tense opening minutes but applauded his squad’s performance and composure, singling out several players for their efforts. He also emphasized the team’s competitive spirit despite injuries and highlighted their ambition in both league and European competitions.
As Marseille prepares to face Toulouse, De Zerbi remains optimistic, demanding high standards and focus from his players for the challenges ahead.
