Our objective is to defend our Champions League title – Pyramids coach Krunoslav Jurčić
Pyramids head coach Krunoslav Jurčić has issued an early statement of intent in the CAF Champions League following his side’s commanding start to the group stage.
The reigning champions opened their campaign with a confident 3-0 victory over Rivers United on Saturday night, a result that immediately underlined their ambitions for another deep run in the competition.
Pyramids will face RS Berkane and Power Dynamos in the remaining group fixtures.
Reflecting on the performance, Jurčić acknowledged his team’s slow start but praised their second-half response.
“In the first half, we didn’t finish our chances well, but the players’ reaction in the second half was strong, and we managed to score three goals and secure three valuable points,” Jurcic said, as per Ysscores.
He stressed that the title holders are pacing themselves through what he described as “the beginning of the journey,” with tough tests still to come both at home and away.
“We are still at the beginning of the journey and face important matches, whether away or in Cairo.
“We are approaching the tournament step by step, and our goal is clear: to defend the title.”
Pyramids travel to Zambia this Saturday for their next Group Stage encounter against Power Dynamos, who opened their campaign with a loss to Berkane.
