Zamalek received official approval from the CAF to honor the late club legend Mohamed Sabry before their upcoming match against Zesco United in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The tribute will include a moment of silence, Sabry’s image displayed on stadium screens, special warm-up shirts with his photo and the phrase “Farewell Mohamed Sabry,” and black armbands worn by players throughout the game.

Sabry’s sons, Adam and Asser, visited Zamalek to complete registration with the club’s youth sectors, Adam will join the 2010 team, and Asser the 2012 squad, continuing their father’s legacy. The boys were welcomed by football sector officials, toured the club’s museum, and received commemorative gifts from Zamalek’s handball star Ahmed Al-Ahmar.

Sabry, a key part of Zamalek’s golden era, helped the team win 15 major trophies from the mid-1990s through the early 2000s. He was admired for his loyalty, never playing for another Egyptian team despite offers from rivals, including Al Ahly. After retiring, Sabry worked as a coach and sports commentator, earning respect for his dedication and honesty.

Ahead of Zamalek’s group stage opener, the team also received permission for 46,200 fans in the stadium, a joyous announcement for supporters eager to launch the continental campaign in Sabry’s honor.
