Rayan Aït-Nouri confident Algeria can shine at next Africa Cup of Nations
Ahead of Algeria’s friendly against Saudi Arabia, Rayan Aït-Nouri spoke clearly about the team’s mindset and the build-up to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
As one of the team’s in-form players, Aït-Nouri emphasized that these preparatory matches are vital in strengthening the squad before the continental challenge.
“It will be a very good match. We are here to prepare in the best way,” he said, acknowledging Saudi Arabia’s strength, especially after their recent win over African champions Ivory Coast. The left-back described the friendly as an important test, not just a routine match, especially with the big tournament starting in less than a month.
Aït-Nouri noted that while the team is not setting specific goals, they are determined to “do something special” at the Africa Cup. “We are a competitive squad and will take it one match at a time,” he added. He also reflected on the disappointment of the last CAN, where Algeria exited early, pledging that this time, “we are going to Morocco to achieve the best possible result.”
With expectations high, Aït-Nouri’s words relay the ambition and renewed focus driving Algeria’s preparations and their desire to make up for past setbacks.
