Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Ashraf Sobhi takes urgent steps to solve Ismaily SC registration ban crisis
Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, held a lengthy meeting with Ismailia Governor Akram Galal and the temporary management committee of Ismaily SC, led by Dr. Tarek Rahmi, to discuss the club’s future and restore stability after recent turmoil.
The Ministry of Sports had previously suspended the Ismaily board, led by Nasr Abou El Hassan, due to financial and administrative violations, referring the case to the judiciary and appointing a temporary committee to lead the club. The meeting addressed the financial and managerial status of the club, plans for reorganization, and strategies to maintain Ismaily’s historic role in developing talent.
A key focus was the urgent need to lift FIFA’s registration ban, which prevents Ismaily from making new signings because of outstanding debts to former players and coaches. Ismaily’s administration has been racing to settle these cases, negotiating with creditors, and pursuing support from investors, business figures, and state authorities to raise necessary funds.
Despite these efforts, fans remain deeply worried as prolonged financial troubles and the inability to register new players threaten Ismaily’s position in the Egyptian Premier League.
However, insiders hint at positive progress, with ongoing talks and possible fundraising campaigns offering hope for resolving the crisis and allowing Ismaily to return to stability before the next transfer window.
