English-Nigerian winger Bukayo Saka hails ‘beautiful goal’ in Three Lions win over Serbia
Bukayo Saka was delighted with his goal as England secured a 2-0 victory over Serbia in a World Cup qualifying clash on Thursday night.
The English winger, who is of Nigerian heritage, opened his account in the match, marking another milestone in his international career since debuting for England in October 2020.
He now has 14 goals in 47 appearances for the Three Lions.
Saka described the strike as ‘a nice one’ and expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“Another goal and a nice one as well. I’m happy with that one. It was a nice strike, a beautiful goal,” he said after the match.
He acknowledged the intensity of the game, noting that Serbia came out with full aggression.
“A good performance and a tough game. For Serbia, it was everything for them, and they came with full aggression. We dealt with it well,” Saka added.
The Arsenal star also highlighted the team’s approach despite having already qualified for the World Cup.
“We could have been more clinical, but we won 2-0, so we’re happy. To come out here and to match their hunger even though we have qualified – we are happy with this result.”
Saka’s goal reinforced his growing importance to England, combining his pace, technical ability, and finishing instinct.
His influence on the pitch has been increasingly evident, making him one of the team’s standout performers in the qualification campaign.
England will now turn their focus to preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, confident in the contributions of Saka and other key players as they aim to make a strong impression on the global stage.
